The reader needs to know that this poem is a ripost or cynical reply to a convention many years old even in Shakespeare's time, that the perfect woman to be adored and loved by all men neded to be thin, white skinned, lips naturally pink, blonde haired, have a musical voice, walk like a Godess and smell like perfume.
