This film had a curious effect on me. Its beginning is deceptive: out of the shabby ordinariness of a mundane and predictable environment a door suddenly opened and I found myself stepping out into the measureless night sky. 'Wishing in the Park' is a wonderfully focused and concentrated piece of work.
Using simple techniques it nevertheless manages to surprise us by opening out again and again into a deeper dimension, without being in the least bit portentous. We see into the subjective world of a troubled mind and are brought face to face with an underlying truth that most of us would rather ignore - thoughts and desires, however unacknowledged, set in motion a process that must bring forth consequences.
Everything we wish for will entail consequences and this film may make you shudder a little as you contemplate that thought!

A thought provoking short film which develops the theme
quickly and has a surprising twist. It kept my attention from start to
finish. Left me thinking about my own perspective on life.

Sam's film drew me swiftly into feeling the desire and dilemma of the central character to gain what she wanted that was not really hers to have. The eerie message became very evident as the film entered its own labarinth - "be very careful what you wish for". Sam shows a great capacity to create a group of characters within a short film to make a strong statement. The film has been well shot in West Hampstead where I live. This for me brought a greater reality to the film and I enjoyed participating in one of the scenes. The film leaves a lasting impression and I wish Sam all success with it.

It makes you careful what you wish for...and who hears you wishing.

'Wishing in the Park' made me think. It has the ambiguity which they say good art must have.

Wishing in the Park - far superior to Pissing in the Park. And it's cleaner. Not a dirty word or deed in sight - or sound. Many congratulations.
