I wanted to make a stripped down film.
Maximum budget US$1,000.
We did it.
Most of the money went on actors.
Some went on bacon sandwiches.
A little more on fake blood.

I had the camera. A 1999 Panasonic. Lots of features.
Far more than I used. No tripod even. Except twice.
No sound man. The little mikes in the camera are great.
I had software and the PC.
And lots of hours. Lots of hours.
Editing takes lots of hours. Especially audio.
Strumming the guitar felt great.
Bass and drums felt great too.
One cold day in March 2006 we shot it all.
All of us did it.
Heather too.
She's my tripod.
Don't need no other.
Fantasy and reality are facts.
Or are they?
Don't ask me.
I only make films. I don't create them.
Films have always been there.
All you do is pick 'em off the trees.
Or hunt for them at night in the forest.
Don't bother wishing in the park.
It's not worth it.
It might lead you to hell.
Heaven is harder.
They said it was Shakespeare.
Fat lot they know about Shakespeare.
But we are all Shakespeare's children.
At least I am.
I am here and now and will always be.
I love film.
But film is making its mind up about me.
I'd like to get married or a romp in the park.
Not fussed.
It will make its mind up real soon.
What if beggars were choosers?
We'd all end up begging for our supper from
A lot of other beggars.
I choose to beg
Not wish to beg.
So strike up the band and give love a chance.
It saved me.
